Property
The Barnes Property is over-looking the village of "The Bottom" ( the capital of Saba) and "Troy Hill".

The Saba University School of Medicine is in The Bottom and their property joins the Barnes' Property.  There is a spectacular view of The Bottom, Troy Hill, the hotel Queen's Garden (located in Troy Hill), and some nice homes.

About five (5) generations or more of the Barnes family have lived on this property.  Vegetables and fruit trees were grown there by the family, and even today there are still lots of mango, soursap and sugar-apple trees (fruits native to Saba) on this land. The Barnes family kept a lot of cattle on this property as well. Some of the walls from the Old Homestead can still be seen there. The Barnes' family home was called the "Old Homestead."  There is an old cistern used to store water that remains there today.

Standing on this land looking out at the beautiful view and feeling the cool Caribbean breeze, one can imagine the past life here, dreams of a new life, - all - while enjoying the peace of this "Old Homestead."
